This one is the hammer model in 38 S&W, made for smokeless powder cartridges. H&R, LLC (Harrington & Richardson) is a manufacturer of firearms under the Harrington.I just got this "new to me" Iver Johnson Third Model revolver. I just picked up a pleasant little Iver Johnson. All first and second model safety automatic revolvers have non-automatic cylinder stop. H&R ‘Handy-Gun’ (single-shot top-break pistol, bore, 28 gauge, 8-inch or 12 14-inch barrel) manufactured H&R Came with 4 choke tubes: IC, M, IM and F. Orders 75 and over ship for FREE in Contiguous USA.ĭiscontinued due to lack of parts availability. All actions work fine Lockup not rock-solid but still very shootable IMHO. The qualifying minimum amount applies to order subtotal less discounts and taxes. the cylinder stop is actually made as part on the trigger and not a seperate part. these have the long enlongated cylinder stop, early first models have a hook on the top strap to retain cylinder(1894 only). Iver Johnson 55A 38 Caliber 2.5' Barrel Crescent,Peerless,Empire Arms 12 Gauge Single Shot Hammer & Pin In Used Condition. Most first models and all second models use the threaded cylinder bushing to retain cylinder (1895-1908). Most of these old top-break Iver Johnson and H&R belly guns run about 120 to 200, at the most, today. when the thrid model was introduced in 1909 one of the changes was an automatic cylinder stop was added. They have to be in extraordinarily good shape the bring over 200. Some are not worth but selling to Numrich as parts guns. these use the rectanglar postive stop and the cylinder stop is a seperate part. in 1911 a new type of cylinder retainer was introduced, having a lug on the bottom of the forcing cone that had to be match up to a slot on the cylinder bushing. this is very postive and did away with the threads on the cylinder bushing which tended to wear with age. In total there are four type of cylinders used of the safety automatic revolver.ġ894-only= retained by hook on bottom of top strap (non automatic cyl. stop)ġ895-1908= threaded cylinder bushing (non automatic cylinder stop)ġ909-1910= threaded cylinder bushing (automatic cylinder stop)ġ911-1942= collar on cylinder bushing and lug on barrel ( automatic cyl. These changes were made in all calibers 22, 32 and 38. Only the cylinders within these four types are interchangable. no cylinder outside of these types are interchanable. your pictures only show the second (threaded cylinder bushing non auto cyl.

REVOLVER Co' and the serial number is 92XXX (stamped under the trigger guard and left side of grip frame). stop) and the last fourth type (collar and lug auto cyl. After researching quite a bit, it's unclear whether this was made before or after Iver Johnson acquired USR, if it is black powder only, and what model it is. Third model= four pins on frame between cylinder and trigger Second model= two pins on frame between cylinder and trigger the majority of the safety automatic revolver do fall into these two types.įor a quick and easy way to tell the first and second and the thrid models apart. Most people do not care to get this technical but there are many small changes in the first and second model and even the third model which show a progession of design changes to manufacture the safest and best top break revolver. You have an Iver Johnson 3rd Model 2nd Variation Safety Hammerless Revolver made in 1914.

Yours should be a V shaped wire spring that rests in a hole in the top of the lever, is held in place by the lever pin, and rest across the face of the lifter like a L. To remove trigger assembly do the following:Ģ. Drift out pin on shroud cover and remove shroudģ. Drift out rear trigger guard pin and front trigger guard pin. Remove hammer screw and allow hammer to move toward the grip.ĥ. Remove trigger pin and pull assembly downward. The lifter (long part) may get caught on the hammer so you may need to use a screw driver or toothpick to separate them. You will have to pinch the lever and lifter together to get it between the hammer, even though it is floating in the frame. Once you get the lever in its notch you should be able to reposition the hammer and install the hammer screw.
